“Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”-Psalm 124:8
Personally, I am not very mechanically inclined. How about you? When something happens to my car engine, I freely admit that I’m that guy who opens up the hood, stares at the engine for awhile and…that’s about it, I stare at the engine for awhile. For this reason, I truly do appreciate an honest, good mechanic who fully understands a car engine, comprehends the ins and outs of a vehicle, really gets how it operates, and therefore knows how to fix and help a car function like it is meant to. Well, infinitely greater than a master mechanic is God Almighty who understands and knows the details of all things. For He is, “…the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” Here’s how it’s put in Jeremiah 51:19: “But the God of Israel is no idol! He is the Creator of everything that exists, including His people, His own special possession. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is His name!” Since God is The Creator of all, it only makes sense then that He should be our “go-to Person” when we need help in life.
Do we not all need help with situations that cause us anxiety? Do we not all need help with various struggles we face? Don’t we need assistance with navigating relationships, wisdom for decisions, understanding for what matters, peace in the midst of trials, discernment in truth, guidance in moving forward from disappointments and hurt…and on and on. Truth be told, we all need help moment by moment. How vital then to remember, “Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”-Psalm 124:8
May this short, potent verse be an ongoing reminder of where our true help comes from. God is our help. God knows all things. So, might we seek His help always in prayer, receive His guidance daily through His Word, and then follow. Jesus put it like this: “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”-John 10:27
Godspeed, friends!
