“You made me; You created me. Now give me the sense to follow Your commands” (Psalm 119:73).
What a verse! What an important, humble prayer. You see, today and everyday is the right time to remember and acknowledge who ultimately brought us into existence.
It is God, who formed us in our mother’s womb, constructing all of our unique intricacies. Psalm 139:13-14 reminds us of this truth in detail. God Almighty made us! We are not our own. Jeremiah once wisely recognized this truth as well and prayed, “I know, Lord, that our lives are not our own. We are not able to plan our own course” (Jeremiah 10:23).
With humility, let’s echo this truth and prayer: “You made me; You created me.” Remembering this truth puts things in perspective. We are reminded accordingly that God is greater. God is The Creator. We are the created ones that He so graciously made. Then, as the Psalmist continued to pray, “Now give me the sense to follow Your commands.” So might we approach each day with a dependence on God to help us understand His ways and then follow in joyful obedience because He, The Creator who always has been and always will be, knows best.
How encouraging! God lovingly made us and knows what’s best for us. So, as we walk into a new week, and as we approach the National Day of Prayer on May 7th, may our prayer be, “You made me; You created me. Now give me the sense to follow Your commands.”
Godspeed, friends!
