“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”-James 1:5

Have you ever thought, What should I do about _____ (fill in the blank)? How about this: have you ever asked, What should I say about _____ (fill in the blank)? Without a doubt, in this life we will face a variety of situations in which we just are not sure what to do, or what to think, or how to respond. For as sharp and smart as anyone can be, not one of us knows everything. Except for God.

Ponder this for a moment: God never has to seek advice from anyone. Nothing stumps Him. He’s God! He knows everything! God never thinks, Hmm. I’m just not sure what to do about this. That just doesn't cross God's mind. Nothing is too hard for Him! God Himself put it like this in Jeremiah 32:27, “I am the Lord, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?” Obviously, the answer is no. All this to say, God alone is all-knowing! He is The Creator of wisdom. Thus, it is always wise for us to go straight to Him for understanding. For the truth is, we all need help, and we need it OFTEN. How readily we regularly need assistance, guidance, direction, and insight beyond ourselves. Every one of us needs wisdom daily. Very fortunately, God wants to offer us His wisdom. He wants to guide us! We simply need to humbly ask, listen through prayer and His Word, trust Him, and obey.

Let’s reread James 1:5 which says, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” Just think for a moment how potent this promise is! God, who completely comprehends everything about everything, extends us His wisdom. And, He doesn’t get irritated with us when we ask for it. In fact, He loves when we humbly ask for His help. So, may we be reminded of where to go first, who to go to first, for guidance, for help, direction, leading, insight, wisdom…We go to God. Let’s ask for His wisdom often. He promises to give it!

Godspeed, friends!
