“The disciples saw Jesus do many other miraculous signs in addition to the ones recorded in this book. But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you will have life by the power of His name.” John 20:30-31

Jesus accomplished many miracles during His time of being physically present on earth. As we read through the New Testament books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, we read of Jesus doing truly astounding things. For example, Jesus turned water into wine (John 2:1-12). He walked on water (Matthew 14:25-27). Jesus healed many sick people (Mark 1:29-34). We read of Him shutting down a storm with just His mere command (Mark 4:35-41)! This is just scratching the surface of the numerous miracles He carried out. Above all of the supernatural things He performed, none is greater than what He did on the cross, dying for our sins, and then conquering death and rising on the third day! Incredibly, Jesus performed many other signs that aren’t even recorded in the Scriptures (John 20:30). John 21:25 puts it this way: "Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written." We can only imagine some of the other extraordinary things He did! All this reminds us — Jesus stands alone in greatness! All He did displays His matchless glory! And, God has given us these miraculous signs to read about for good reason. Why?

We were given these true stories of Jesus doing such marvelous things so that we might believe! Believe what? That we might believe, that we might trust in Jesus as The Savior of the world. Let’s reread John 20:31: "But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you will have life by the power of His name.” In Christ we find life. True, joyful, fulfilling, adventurous, soul-satisfying life both now and eternally! No one and nothing else can give us this life. Jesus put it this way, “…I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly”(John 10:10).

So, may we be reminded today to stay in the Scriptures. Let’s keep prayerfully reading His words, hearing the stories, reflecting on all Christ did, remembering who He is, and savoring Jesus! He did so many fantastic, miraculous things. And check it…He isn’t done.

Godspeed, friends!
