“Let every created thing give praise to the Lord, for He issued His command, and they came into being.”-Psalm 148:5

One of the main, top-notch themes we see in the Psalms is praise. Praise to whom? Praise to the Lord! Specifically, in Psalm 148, there is much encouragement for everything to praise the Lord. The angels are commanded to praise God. The armies of heaven are told to do the same. The list keeps going throughout this Psalm. The sun and moon, twinkling stars, skies above, clouds, ocean creatures, small scurrying animals, birds, and on and on it goes...are all instructed to praise the Lord. All people are included in this list. So, just to be clear, what is it again that every created thing is to do? “Praise the Lord!”

Here's what all of these things have in common: God made each one. They exist, are sustained, and are all ultimately purposed to bring God glory. Romans 11:36 puts it this way: “For everything comes from Him and exists by His power and is intended for His glory. All glory to Him forever! Amen.” Notice it says, “…everything comes from Him…” This includes you and me! The Lord made us with love, preserves us daily with His power, and uniquely designed each of us to bring glory to God. We are literally made to praise God with our lives! Truth be told, we find our greatest delight in doing so!

May we never forget — God brought us into being. Our hearts keep beating because He makes it so. Each of us takes another breath because He allows it. We belong to Him! God is the “Main Attraction!” We are not. We don’t exist another day on earth for ourselves. Rather, we’re alive to praise the Lord with all we are! Therefore, right now is the right time to offer the praise to God that He deserves. Pause from everything else for a moment and just give God praise. Let’s praise God with our lips! May we speak of His splendor. Might we regularly lift up to God thankful words of worship. He is The Lord! He alone is worthy not only of praise from our mouths but also our surrendered lives, giving Him the praise with all we are, in all we do, every day. In this moment, may we recall the reason we are alive. Ultimately, it is to give God all the praise! As Psalm 148:5 says it, “Let every created thing give praise to the Lord, for He issued His command, and they came into being.”

Godspeed, friends!
