“They sang, ‘Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength belong to our God forever and ever! Amen.’”-Revelation 7:12

The book of Revelation is filled with truly intriguing insights about what is to come. Are you interested in the future? Most of us are. Revelation 1:1 says, “This is a revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants the events that must soon take place…” Not only does Revelation give us vision as to the future, but it tells us that we will be blessed if we read it (Revelation 1:3). Sounds great, right? Indeed it is. No doubt we will learn so much from reading this book, from hearing about remarkable things yet to be. It may lead to some questions too about what God is saying. But, without a doubt, one thing that is extremely clear as we read Revelation is that there will be much singing to and worshiping God in Heaven!

Revelation 4:8 says: “…Day after day and night after night they keep on saying, ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty—the One who always was, who is, and who is still to come.’” A little later in Revelation, specifically in Revelation 5:9, we read, “And they sang a new song with these words: ‘You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals and open it…’” One more example among many in Revelation is Revelation 5:12, “And they sang in a mighty chorus: ‘Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered—to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.’” What is utterly transparent in Revelation is that in Heaven, in the New Heaven and New Earth, there will be abundant singing to God. There will be passionate, unreserved, unashamed worship of the Lord! The saying, “Praise the Lord” won’t just be a phrase we use from time to time, it will be The Way Of Life!

It only makes sense then that we worship God now. We sing to God now. We seek to praise God with all we are right now! Charles Spurgeon wisely and with conviction put it this way, “Praise is the rehearsal of our eternal song. By grace we learn to sing, and in glory we continue to sing. What will some of you do when you get to heaven, if you go on grumbling all the way? Do not hope to get to heaven in that style. But now begin to bless the name of the Lord.” So might we all be encouraged afresh to sing to God with passion, to praise the Lord with our all today! Sing to the Lord joyfully with your church family. Sing to God wholeheartedly in your car. Take time to praise the Lord frequently! For, “Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence, Lord.”-Psalm 89:15

Godspeed, friends!
