“They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about Your mighty works.”-Psalm 77:12

What do you think about often? What thoughts fill your mind? Does worry reign? Does fear consume? God created our brains, and they are powerful. What we think on really matters - it deeply affects us personally and directs our actions toward others.

When the Psalmist penned Psalm 77, he at first was overwhelmed, wrestling with thoughts of trouble, distress, and abandonment. Can you relate to thoughts like this? Then, Asaph remembered something. He recalled all God had done before. He called to mind God’s wonderful deeds in the past. Once Asaph did that, he soon became consumed with very different thoughts, thoughts of God’s mighty works. “They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works (Ps. 77:12).” What comes next in Psalm 77 are hopeful thoughts!

What we think on and meditate on is deeply significant. That’s why the Bible says to, “…let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think… (Romans 12:2).” And, it is exactly why God reminds us to fix our thoughts on, “…what is true, and honoroble, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable (Philippians 4:8).” Thinking is going to happen; God made us to think. What we think on is the very important choice we make.

Since God is God and all He is is good, since God’s ways are right and His works are wondrous, by God’s grace, let’s choose today to think much on God and His mighty works…especially the beautiful work of Jesus Christ crucified (1 Corinthians 2:2). These thoughts lead us to remember the hope we always have in Christ, no matter the circumstance.

Godspeed, friends!
