“Kind words are like honey—sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.”-Proverbs16:24

When we pause long enough to really see people, to look beyond ourselves and truly observe God’s people all around us, it doesn’t take long to notice that many folks are struggling. One could be dealing with a difficult relational issue. Another might be wrestling with something at work or school. Still, someone else might have a health issue, a spiritual battle going on, a stress that won’t go away...the list goes on and on.

Ian Maclaren once wisely said this, “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” Everyone struggles. How readily we forget or fail to notice. Battles abound in lives everywhere. Is there any hope? Is there anything we can do? Yes there is!

God created words. God gives us His very Word, the Bible, that is filled with the truth of God’s kindness to us. Psalm 116:5 says, “How kind the Lord is! How good He is! So merciful, this God of ours!” What truth! No doubt, we see the ultimate kindness of God through Jesus, how He spoke, and what He did. Incredibly, God wants to work through us to share His kindness with others. A huge way we pass on the kindness of the Lord is by freely giving out kind words. A kind word to a discouraged soul can be refreshingly sweet. Kind words can be such a breath of fresh air. Sadly, how rarely kind words are used in our world.

Has God not been so kind to us? Surely He has! So, today, let’s freely pass on the kindness of God through a kind word to others. Our families, our fellow believers, our co-workers, classmates, and even strangers can be greatly helped through a kind word. What gracious words can be shared with your neighbor today? Let the kindness flow, for the glory of God, and for the good of others!

Godspeed, friends!
