“The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers.” -1 Peter 4:7

Here’s something we don’t always love to consider, but it is a reality nonetheless — This world will not last forever. One day Jesus will return! We don’t know when that will be. Only the Father knows. We do know that He will return and God will eventually make a new heaven and a new earth (Mark 13:24-27, 32; 2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1). Each day is drawing closer to the time of the end of the world as we know it now. It could be next week. It could be years and years from now.

In light of this reality, it’s very much worth our time to consider some questions like: What then should I be about? What truly matters? Since the end of this world will come, what should I dedicate myself to? The disciple, Peter, led directly by God, encouraged Christians with this important word, “The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers.”-1 Peter 4:7

Since we don’t have forever in this world, prayer is vital. Communicating with the One who holds eternity in His hands, staying connected to God through prayer is paramount! 1 John 2:28 comes to mind, “And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when He returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back to him in shame.” Our relationship with God truly matters. Prayer matters, always. That makes sense too considering we were created to be in relationship with God now and eternally.

Is spending time in prayer important to you? Do you know that prayer is a top-notch priority to God? Prayer matters so much to Christ that Luke 18:1 tells us, “One day Jesus told His disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.”

How do we best prepare for the end of this world? We make prayer, listening and talking to God Almighty a regular part of our life. After all, for our good, we are lovingly commanded to, “Never stop praying.”-1 Thessalonians 5:17

Today, let’s listen to God in prayer. Let’s talk to God, crying out to Him in prayer about everything! In so doing, we stay closely connected to the One who knows exactly when the end will be and when Christ will return. Prayer is never a waste! So, let us be earnest and disciplined in prayer.

Godspeed, friends!
