“Each of Your commandments is right. That is why I hate every false way.” -Psalm 119:128
Have you ever pondered the question, “What is the right thing to do?” Or how about this question, “How do I know what’s true?” These are very important questions! They’re significant because God cares deeply about what’s right. He prioritizes truth. He is the Author of truth. Therefore, what is right truly should matter to us.
In Psalm 119:128, we are reminded where we find what’s right. All of God’s commandments, all of His precepts, are right. All of God’s ways are correct. So, how do we know what’s right and what’s wrong? We look to God! We look to His Word that He has so graciously given us. God so lovingly communicates to us right from wrong, with grace and truth, through the Bible which is like no other book. Proverbs 30:5 puts it like this, “Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to Him for protection.” God loves truth and wants us to know the truth that will set us free (John 8:31-32)!
Additionally, Psalm 119:128 specifically notes that there are false ways. This bothered the Psalmist because it bothers God. As God loves truth, we too ought to love truth. As God can’t stand what’s false, we ought to hate what’s false.
This week, let’s be spurred on afresh to stay in His wonderful Book, the Bible, and take in His truth that gives us understanding of what is right and what is false. No doubt we need His guidance every moment. And what a gift from God that He loves us enough to tell us what’s right and what’s wrong.
Godspeed, friends!
