“But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today, so that none of you is hardened by sin’s deception.” -Hebrews 3:13

One of the beautiful privileges we have as Christians is the the opportunity to encourage someone else. And God chooses to work through us to help another, so powerfully, through encouragement. To encourage is to comfort, to spur on, to inspire with courage, to give hope.

God knows how easily we wander. God understands how readily we lose hope, lose our way, forget, get distracted, and turn away from Him and walking in His ways. One potent way God helps us remember who He is, and remember what truly matters, is through daily encouragement. Consider just how sweet it is to receive a kind word, in the right way, at just the right time. Can you personally remember such a helpful time?

Hearing an encouraging word like, “Remember today, you are dearly loved by God”, or “I am thankful for you”, or “God is working in you and through you”, or “I am praying for you today”, or even simply “You’re doing a great job!” can truly cheer the heart. Encouragement like this can help so much. In fact, giving and receiving encouragement is a sort of balm to our souls by God, helping another, and is used to prevent the hardening of our hearts that so easily can happen by sin’s craftiness.

So, let’s ponder: Who around us needs a word of encouragement today? (In reality, doesn’t everyone need a word of encouragement today?)

Pray, and then build someone up for the glory of God! Spur on a stranger in the name of Jesus! Encourage daily. What an honor to be invited by God to be used for His glory in such a special way.

Godspeed, friends!
