“We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in His love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.” -1 John 4:16
To personally know God’s love is to truly live. The disciple, John, experienced real love first-hand in Jesus. With his own eyes, John saw Jesus live a perfect life of love. John was forever changed by knowing and trusting in God’s real love.
Remarkably, Jesus wants us to know and rest in His love for us too. God wants us to know how very much He loves us, so much that He calls us His dearly loved children (1 John 3:1). The Lord wants us to know and never forget about the love displayed in the ultimate way through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross on our behalf. True love is seen, with absolute perfection, through Jesus and Jesus alone. 1 John 4:10 puts it like this, “This is real love—not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.”
Do you personally know how much God loves you? Have you put your trust in His love? God is love. All He does, He does in love. What He gives us, He gives in love. What He withholds from us, He withholds for our good, in love. When He disciplines us, He does it as a perfect, loving Father, for our good, so we might grow in His love.
We all need love. We all long for the love that can truly only be found in God. We need it everyday. So, let’s let God love us today. Let’s rest in His love today. Let’s trust afresh His love today. The simple song written long ago is so true: “Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so. “ To personally know God’s love is to truly live. So, let’s live loved.
Godspeed, friends!
