“Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up” (Proverbs 12:25).
Unfortunately, worry is very common in our world. Worry is widespread, sadly. Worry, anxiety, and stress dominate many lives. Most reading or hearing this would confess that worry invades our lives far more often than we would like to admit. This can lead to life that seems hopeless at times.
Very fortunately, God offers us help! He offers hope. One fantastic way He offers assistance with worry is through an encouraging word, a good word shared one to another.
Listen, we need way more good words! We need much more encouraging words! God gives us, through His Word (the Bible), the most helpful, truthful, and ultimately encouraging words we will ever find…anywhere. His very words are truth, light, hope, peace, guidance…He wants us to hear them, apply them by His grace, and share them with others.
My aim with this new weekly devotional that will be posted every Wednesday is to pass on some uplifting thoughts on His good, worthy Word in simple, helpful, joyful, practical ways, so we might be cheered up in Christ and so we might cheer on others in Jesus everyday. My prayer is that these short devotionals will indeed be an encouraging word that helps to cheer you up.
So, friends—Cheer Up! You are dearly loved by God, and He showed just how much He loves us by sending Jesus, offering eternal life (1 John 4:9)! Is there any better word?! And, be encouraged that God wants to use you to share a good word with others, leading them out of worry and anxiety. So, encourage away! It really is amazing too how when we look to help others, look to build others up, we in turn are cheered ourselves.
Godspeed, friends!
